Harts Holiday Park, Kent
Harts is the perfect Park; a fantastic entertainment venue and great leisure facilities.
Someone has let the cat out of the bag! Since the new bridge opened, making the journey from the mainland to the holiday island of Sheppey even simpler, Harts Holiday park has become so popular that we had to include another park on the island to cope with the demand!
Leysdown has all the amenities of a traditional seaside resort, but combines this with the tranquility and 'back to nature' feel generated from miles of unspoilt beaches and wide open green spaces. You may not know that Leysdown attracts over 100,000 visitors a year and has one of the lowest rainfalls in the UK!

This was our 1st visit to Harts - booked via a newspaper offer & I must admit - when we 1st discovered we had "Sheppey" it was a bit of a disappointment... how wrong we were!
We arrived very early, so our caravan wasn't quite ready - having said that, it was only a 45 minute wait (still earlier than our "official" book-in time) - which was spent very nicely on the bar patio (in the sun) chatting to the entertainments team.
First impressions were excellent - the bar area was the cleanest & freshest I have seen over many years spent taking the kids to various holiday parks. .. the carpet looked brand new, as did all the bar furniture.
This high standard continued - our caravan was spotless, & I have to say - have never seen such white linen!
Over our 3 night stay - as we were "off-season" , we got to know the staff well, it's a small site - so there aren't many there! I would imagine in "peak season" it's maybe a different story - but all the staff made a real effort to make our stay a good one.
BIG thanks in particular to Matty, Jade & Courtney - who were just superb with my kids.
We had no problems whatsoever with noise on site... & considering most there during our stay had dogs with them - no issues at all there. (If I'd have known it was such a dog-friendly site - would have probably brought mine down with me, although he might have had a field day with all the wild rabbits hopping around!)
The only downside I can possibly say about the site, is that the "main" swimming pool is very small (& cold!) - I would imagine in peak season, it might be hard to get a swim - as it won't take many in there to fill it up! This does seem a bit weird - as the swimming pool complex is easily big enough to house a larger pool. (There is a smaller kiddy pool with a slide, & a shallow outdoor pool, both of which had no water in it during our stay, & a hot-spa pool - again quite small & never got a chance to try it out as with about 3 people in it - it was full!)
Only other problem we encountered, was that as we arrived on the day all the grass had been cut - 3 days later, our caravan was covered in it, with only a soft broom to try & sweep it up. Could have done with something a bit more useful to try to save the cleaner's hoover a bit really, as the floor did look a bit of a mess when we left & we had no choice but to leave it like that.
There's no shop on site at all - but there is a supermarket within a 2 min walk - so not really a problem. Also nothing there to buy the usual "kid junk" of an evening (glo sticks & the like) but that might be a blessing in disguise!
Leysdown itself didn't have a lot to offer, few "junky-beach" shops, most of the restaurants/cafes are basically burger or fish bars, & just loads of amusement arcades (which we avoided!) The beach is quite pebbly, & then goes into very wet muddly sand when the tide is out - but hey - not talking about the Costa Brava here...
Put it this way: we'll be back! Already planning another visit before the year's out & will give serious thought to ownership on this site. Well done to all involved! (including Loopy!)

Hello to all - we had the pleasure of staying with you from Fri 21st May - Mon 24th May.
Just like to pass on our thanks to everyone on site - had a superb time (weather helped!)
The kids were in tears when it was time to go, & all I've had since, is "when can we go back!"
BIG thanks especially to Matty, Jade & Courtney who made the break very special for the children.
Seriously giving thought to becoming "an owner" - so you may not have seen the back of us just yet !!!

My partner and I chose this site as his parents owned a caravan here 40 years ago! We really loved the site, the caravan was really clean and comfortable and the welcoming tea, coffee and milk etc. were just what we needed after a long journey down from the midlands. The staff were very warm and friendly and their local knowledge helpful and the site itself was clean and well looked after, we will definately think about returning.

My partner and I stayed in a 'silver standard' caravan with our two children. It was very clean, well appointed and had everything that we were likely to need in terms of kitchen equipment. Would we go back to this holiday park? Yes, definitely!
